This post is also available in Kreyol.“If the madan sara does not go to work, the city does not eat.” These powerful words come from an essay published on our site three years ago, written by Etant Dupain. Journalist, documentary producer, and activist, he detailed his admiration for these women like his mother, whose job is to connect products from far off in the countryside, and sometimes even outside the country, to consumers in the city. This week, Dupain takes an important next step in bringing these women’s stories to light with the release of the official trailer for his upcoming documentary.

This is Dupain’s first independent project as creator and director, after working on dozens of documentary projects as producer. Dupain offers a special lens as someone who has been at the forefront of many grassroots movements, and has used his career to give many untold stories a proper platform. We are excited to follow this project to fruition and you should be too!
